Pintoy has been successfully used as a ground cover for many types of plantations such as bananas, papaya and citrus. The plants provide excellent erosion control and require less mowing and maintenance than grasses. Pintoy does not compete with the plantation crop and can actually improve soils and reduce nitrogen fertilizer requirements.
